Auburn getting a boost in their secondary for the San Jose State game?
A familiar face could be returning to the Auburn secondary this week as cornerback T.J. Davis has returned for ACL surgery and has been practicing with the team.
During the latest SEC teleconference, Gus Malzahn brought up the likelihood of Davis playing this week against San Jose State.
“We’re not actually ruling out this week,” Malzahn said. “We’ll just see how the week progresses with his confidence and what he can and can’t do.”
Auburn has played the pass well to this point, allowing just under 200 yards passing per game, however injures have hit the unit hard after four games. Any reps Davis could give the team would be a boost against the Spartans. If Davis cannot go Saturday, he will have an additional week to prepare for Kentucky during Auburn's bye week.
“It’s just a matter of him getting confidence and feeling comfortable, but his progression is coming along good,” Malzahn said. “I think in the next few weeks you could see him out there on the field.”
