Auburn set to end longest QB drought at SEC Media Days

Published Jul. 2, 2015 6:07 p.m. ET

The Auburn Tigers have gone eight years without sending a quarterback to the league's annual SEC Media Days event in Hoover, Alabama, the longest streak in the conference. However the streak is soon to be snapped with Thursday's announcement of Jeremy Johnson representing the Tigers this season, according to AL.com.

The last Auburn quarterback to attend the event was Brandon Cox in 2007.

The earned invitation for Auburn's new starting quarterback will only continue to raise his expectations for the season. Despite only have 57 career completions in his career, Johnson is currently a 16-1 favorite to win the Heisman Trophy entering the season.

Can he possibly live up to that level up hype considering Auburn only returns four offensive starters this season?
