Missing out on the top-rated defensive end recruit in the state of Michigan for 2016 had to sting Jim Harbaugh, the but head coach of the Wolverines got more than a consolation prize in the form of a commit from Devery Hamilton.

Hamilton, a four-star offensive tackle from Maryland powerhouse the Gilman School in Baltimore, announced Wednesday afternoon he will wear the Maize and Blue in 2016. Per Scout.com, his other finalists included Stanford, Maryland and Wisconsin.

The pledge gives Michigan 19 players for Harbaugh's first full year as head coach of the Wolverines. As of this writing, seven are four-star prospects, four of whom are offensive linemen. The top three players as far as ranking are all slated to the front as Hamilton checks in No. 144 nationally. He follows No. 25 Ben Bredeson, a guard from Wisconsin, and No. 124 Erik Swenson of Illinois.

Hamilton's commit came the same day four-star defensive end Khalid Kareem committed to Alabama. Kareem is Scout.com's No. 1 defensive end in the state of Michigan and No. 4 at the position in the Midwest.
