Updated Oct. 10, 2021 2:35 a.m. ET

Week 6 of the college football season was an edge-of-your-seat affair.

Opening a thrilling Saturday of action, Heisman Trophy hopeful Spencer Rattler was benched for Caleb Williams, who then rallied No. 6 Oklahoma from an 18-point deficit against No. 21 Texas, securing a 55-48 victory in the Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

In another high-scoring affair in Oxford, Mississippi, Matt Corral and No. 17 Ole Miss held on late to take down the No. 13-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks, 52-51

No. 2 Georgia defeated No. 18 Auburn 34-10 as defense reigned supreme, and No. 4 Penn State fell short at No. 3 Iowa, 23-20.

Here are the top plays from Saturday's action.

Texas A&M 41, No. 1 Alabama 38

A handful of streaks were snapped Saturday night in College Station, Texas.

Defending national champion Alabama had the nation's longest active winning streak broken at 19 games.

The Tide also lost their 100-game streak of defeating unranked opponents, the longest string in the AP Poll era.

On Sunday morning, the Tide's reign atop the polls will certainly come to an end as well.

Down goes no.1

After giving up a 14-point lead over Alabama, Texas A&M rallied late in the fourth quarter with 10 unanswered points to upset the Crimson Tide.

Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher became the first former assistant of Nick Saban's to secure a victory against the Alabama head coach.

After the Tide had taken a 38-31 lead in the fourth quarter, the Aggies answered with this gutty drive and TD pass from quarterback Zach Calzada.

Despite being shaken up on the play and going to the injury tent, Calzada led the Aggies on an eight-play, 54-yard drive for Seth Small's 28-yard field goal as time expired, setting off a wild celebration at Kyle Field.

No. 3 Iowa 23, No. 4 Penn State 20

Getting stingy

Iowa's secondary is known for being opportunistic, and an interception by linebacker Jestin Jacobs in the first quarter showcased the Hawkeyes' ability to create takeaways.

Punching it in

Penn State was able to overcome the early turnover to right the ship and take the lead behind a Noah Cain rushing touchdown.

Stealing the momentum

Penn State might have been on the road, but the Nittany Lions made themselves very comfortable on Iowa's home turf, taking a 14-3 lead to silence the Hawkeye faithful.

Hawkeyes get rolling

Iowa finally found the end zone when Spencer Petras hit Charlie Jones, pulling the Hawkeyes within seven.

Taking the lead

Iowa hit two field goals to Penn State's one, before Petras found a wide-open Nico Ragaini for six. The TD put the Hawkeyes up 23-20.

Big stops

Iowa came up with two straight fourth-down stops, cutting the Nittany Lions' drive short on a fourth-and-3 …

… before snatching the team's fourth interception of the day.

The huge defensive stands netted Iowa its 12th straight win.

No. 6 Oklahoma 55, No. 21 Texas 48

Starting early

Texas' Xavier Worthy caught this quick screen pass and took it 75 yards to the house … on the game's first play.

Early … and often

After a blocked punt, Bijan Robinson plowed into the end zone to put the Longhorns up 14-0 just a couple minutes into the Red River Showdown.

Back for Moore

Joshua Moore reeled in his first TD catch of the season for Texas, giving the Longhorns a 21-7 edge.

Double up

Moore went deep again for TD No. 2!

Caleb!

OU's backup QB Caleb Williams came in for a fourth-down conversion. He found pay dirt on his first carry to bring the Sooners within two scores at 28-14.

Bijan boomin'

Robinson continued to dominate, breaking off this impressive run as Texas built a 38-20 halftime lead.

Backup magic

Williams replaced Rattler in the second half and injected life into the Sooners with this creative TD.

Oklahoma trailed 41-30 after three quarters – but the fireworks were just beginning.

Rally complete

After a field goal on its previous drive, Oklahoma completed the 18-point halftime rally on the following drive to tie the score.

Williams completed a 52-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Mims to bring the Sooners within two points before Rattler returned to the game to convert the two-point conversion.

After a Texas fumble on the kickoff, Oklahoma had the ball with a chance to take the lead and it capitalized.

Kennedy Brooks punched in a touchdown run to give Oklahoma a 48-41 lead.

A wild finish

Texas still had a pulse even after taking Oklahoma's best punch, responding behind Worthy, who had proven to be too much for the Sooners' secondary all game.

But Oklahoma delivered the final knockout blow with a touchdown run from Brooks to give the Sooners a 55-48 lead with three seconds left to seal the win.

No. 2 Georgia 34, No. 18 Auburn 10

Getting defensive

Georgia's defense has been the catalyst of the Bulldogs' success this season, and it showed up early against Auburn with an interception on the first drive of the game.

Leap of faith

Another one

Georgia's offense found its stride in the second quarter with a second touchdown and 17 unanswered points to take control of the game.

Georgia on my mind

The second half was filled with more Georgia explosions.

White put the Dawgs up 34-10 with his second TD.

No. 17 Ole Miss 52, No. 13 Arkansas 51

Home cookin'

Arkansas' KJ Jefferson opened the scoring with a short scamper.

Rabble-rousers

Matt Corral and Dontario Drummond hooked up for this 75-yard bomb to knot things at 14-14.

2 for two

Corral's second TD of the day came on this pylon dive.

And Corral fought through some vicious hits.

Ole Miss led 21-14 at the half, scoring all its points in the second quarter.

Snoop and score

Snoop Conner broke a 24-24 tie in the third with this big rumble.

Verticality

Jefferson answered for the Razorbacks by jumping – literally – into the end zone. That tied the score at 31 entering the fourth.

Unstoppable

Corral might have a claim to being the best dual-threat quarterback in the country this season and plays like this are the reason why.

And later in the fourth quarter, he showed off his arm to give Ole Miss a 52-45 lead.

Holding on

After Arkansas scored to cut the Ole Miss lead to one point as time expired, the Hogs went for the win but failed to covert when going for two. The Rebels held on to win, 52-51.

THE BEST OF THE REST:

Hurdlin' Hassan

Or, ‘Hoppin’ Hassan,' if you prefer that.

Extra juice

Alabama found themselves back in the game in second half thanks to plays like this from their speedy wide receiver Jameson Williams.

His second touchdown of the night came much easier to put Alabama ahead 38-31 late in the fourth quarter.

House call

Texas A&M gave Alabama everything it could handle in the first half, taking a 24-10 lead into halftime, and in the third quarter, the Aggies continued to apply pressure.

Devon Achane's kickoff return for a touchdown kept the Aggies ahead by two touchdowns.

Big play Bears

Baylor opened its affair against West Virginia with a 75-yard game-breaker from Tyquan Thornton.

The Nailor Show

Michigan State's Jalen Nailor punched it in on back-to-back 63-yarders, before scoring on a 65-yard TD catch.

From way out

Kenneth Walker duped his way to a 94-yard TD, the longest in Michigan State history.

And he did it in style.

Have a day, Olave

Ohio State's Chris Olave was undeniable. Even a pass interference call couldn't stop him from hauling in this TD grab.
