Astros' Peacock has surgery, expected back in 2016

Houston Astros right-hander Brad Peacock has had a rough season.

After making 24 starts for the 2014 Astros, Peacock's 2015 has been completely derailed thanks to a handful of injuries. He had offseason hip surgery but recuperated in time for spring training, only to strain his left intercostal muscle in an April start.

That proved to be a significant setback, as he re-injured it during a June rehab appearance. This all led up to his latest development: back surgery to deal with bone spurs related to a pinched nerve.

He'll obviously miss the rest of the season, but as manager A.J. Hinch told Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle, "We expect him to be fully recuperated and ready for spring training."

At just 27, Peacock should presumably remain a contender for a spot on the Astros' pitching staff if he's ready to go in spring training. So far in his four-year career, Peacock owns a 11-16 record and a 4.69 ERA in 50 appearances (41 of them starts).
