Blue Jays pitcher Francisco Liriano left Friday’s ALDS Game 2 after taking a line drive off the neck in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Rangers outfielder Carlos Gomez lined a pitch right back at Liriano at 102 mph, deflecting off the lefthander’s neck and into rightfield. It scored a runner to make the score 5–2.

Afterward, Liriano was walking around, rubbing his neck, and was removed by the team’s trainer. He left the dugout to head to the clubhouse for examination.

Liriano had thrown just 17 pitches after coming on in relief of Jason Grilli. He allowed a run on two hits and was replaced by closer Roberto Osuna.
