The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a scare with All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal in their 5-0 win over the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

In the seventh inning, Nationals outfielder Michael Taylor fouled off a pitch from Zack Greinke that hit the bottom of Grandal's mask, which rattled him.

The 26-year-old All-Star catcher was then escorted from the game by team trainers and was replaced by A.J. Ellis behind the dish.

"When it first happened, I didn't know what I was saying and they didn't either," Grandal said. "I couldn't really move my jaw too much. We'll just take it one day at a time and see how it does."

Manager Don Mattingly initially thought that his All-Star catcher had fractured his jaw, but Grandal's X-rays turned out negative.

In his first season with the Dodgers, Grandal is hitting .280/.399/.518 with 14 home runs and 36 RBI.

Mattingly said the catcher will undergo further examination on Monday.
