The Los Angeles Dodgers catchers are getting banged up behind the dish.

The Dodgers announced Monday that catcher A.J. Ellis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right knee inflammation.

Reporters said that the 34-year-old catcher's knee began to stiffen up last night and that no structural damage was revealed in an MRI.

Ellis replaced starting catcher Yasmani Grandal in Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals after Grandal was rattled by a foul ball that hit the lower portion of his mask.

In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled rookie catcher Austin Barnes from their Triple-A affiliate to start and hit eighth in Monday's game in Atlanta against the Braves.
