Justin Verlander blames Blue Jays for uptick in home runs
There were 4,182 home runs hit in Major League Baseball in 2014. Through Saturday, there was 4,692, over 500 more than the previous year.
Some might look at this as the ebbs and flows from year to year, the constant struggle between hitters and pitchers.
Some might want to ask Detrot Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander for his opinion on why there is a big uptick in homers this season - which is what a fan did Saturday.
Verlander blamed the Toronto Blue Jays and their explosive offense for all the homers and he may have a case: Toronto leads the majors with 220 and counting.
In 2015, Verlander is responsible for two of those homers despite throwing just five innings against them.
