Nationals fans can win season tickets by hitting home run

The Washington Nationals have announced a “Swing For Your Seats” promotion where fans renewing a season ticket plan for 2016 can get their seats for free . . . if they can somehow manage to hit a home run at Nationals Park.

All fans have to do is re-up their season tickets before Oct. 15 and they are eligible to sign up for the chance to hit a very profitable dinger.

The official rules and regulations for the “Swing For Your Seats” promo is chock full of legalese and rife with technical mumbo jumbo, but the gist of it is this: One fan per each season-ticket plan can register. They will be afforded the opportunity to hit one over the fence courtesy of two pitches from a pitching machine. The Nationals will have the final say in any disagreements concerning whether any batted ball is actually a home run as it relates to fair-or-foul, etc.

Fans have the option to designate a “proxy” to take their at-bat, but that option has its limits, as “Division I collegiate or major, minor or independent league professional baseball players, whether past or present, are not eligible to participate.”

There is also a $10,000 limit set on how much can be applied to season ticket plans, but in the end, it’s a pretty nifty promotion, not to mention a fairly low-risk gamble by the Nationals, as most average folks will have great difficulty emulating Bryce Harper and knocking one out of Nationals Park.
