Tigers' Cespedes candidate for MLB All-Star Game 'Final Vote'

Yoenis Cespedes missed out on his first two chances to make this year's All-Star squad, but you know what they say: third time's a charm.

The Tigers slugger (and reigning Home Run Derby champion) did not win a starting spot through the fan vote, nor a reserve spot through peer voting, but he has one last chance to become a 2015 All-Star with MLB's 'Final Vote.'

Cespedes, who finished fourth in the fan vote at outfielder, will compete for the final spot on the AL All-Star roster against Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, Twins second baseman Brian Dozier, Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts and Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas.

"He's definitely got a chance," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told reporters on Monday. "We need to get people to start voting."

Heading into Tuesday's games, Cespedes is hitting .294 with a .322 on-base percentage and .809 slugging percentage. He has 11 home runs, 25 doubles and 45 RBI through 2 games.

The Tigers have teamed up with the Reds to push fans of both teams to vote for Cespedes on the AL side and right-hander Johnny Cueto on the National League side.

Voting ends Friday, July 10 at 4 p.m. Eastern.
