MLS 2021 opening weekend: Top moments from Saturday

What a first Saturday of the MLS season!

From start to finish, the second day of opening weekend was jam-packed with exciting MLS action.

The day's slate featured eight games, including the debut of new franchise Austin FC against Los Angeles FC.

Montreal vs. Toronto

Just a little more than two minutes into the game, Montréal's Mason Toye curled it in perfectly for an early lead.

Montréal's Romell Quioto showed off his speed, taking it downfield and inside for the club's second goal of the day.

Toronto FC capitalized on the penalty opportunity with a cool, calm and collected shot from Mark Delgado into the corner of the net.

Midfielder Victor Wanyama put Montréal back on top by two with a header into the back post.

Djordje Mihailovic blasted it in to all but seal Montréal's victory with a 4-1 lead.

LAFC vs. Austin FC

In his debut game, LAFC midfielder Corey Baird needed just one touch to drill it into the corner, scoring the first goal of the contest.

LAFC's Kwadwo Opoku snagged it and found Jose Cifuentes to seal the win for the Black & Gold.

New York Red Bulls vs. Sporting KC

A beautiful volley from Caden Clark put the Red Bulls ahead.

But Sporting KC rallied for the victory.

Colorado vs. Dallas

Colorado's Michael Barios, who used to play for Dallas, slipped into a team photo with his old friends.

Colorado's Jim Maurer made a huge save to preserve a tie.

NYCFC vs. DC United

NYCFC used some lovely passing to grab a quick lead over DC United.

Brendan Hines-Ike wasted little time tying it up.

This one-touch goal off a corner kick was a thing of beauty by DC United.

Chicago vs. New England

Chicago and New England were all about scoring on Saturday ...

 ... at least when it came to scoring by Chicago.

The Revolution struck back with a lovely header.

Gustavo Bou tied it up by tapping it past the keeper.

Cincinnati vs. Nashville

Nice passing led to a 1-0 advantage for Cincinnati at Nashville.

Brenner made it 2-0 with a PK goal.

Nashville got on the board, thanks to a lovely cross.

Nashville battled back and earned a tie with this unbelievable curl from Randall Leal.
