Pint-Sized Utah Jazz Fan Dabs in Mark Cuban's Grille

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:07 p.m. ET

Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks fell to the Utah Jazz in heartbreaking fashion last week, but it wasn’t the only loss taken by the Mavs owner that night.

So Mark Cuban’s most recent visit to Salt Lake City didn’t go as swimmingly as he’d hoped. He may have seen the sites or had a good meal or two, but the big reason for his trip was less successful.

After seeing his beleaguered, Dirk Nowitzki-less Dallas Mavericks squad fight their way back into a difficult game against the Utah Jazz, an ill-advised Deron Williams shot attempt late in the fourth quarter killed the comeback and cost them the win.

Williams’ miss led directly to a game-winning three-pointer by Jazzman Rodney Hood with just 0.8 seconds left. Definitely not the result he was looking for as he watched from courtside. However, it wasn’t the only loss he took that night.

He also got big-timed by 10-year old.

Behold this gem making the rounds on social media. It’s a video taken during the game of a kid leaving the Mavs owner hanging on a high-five, then dropping a sweet dab right in his grille —

Cuban was quick to fire back, pretending to sneeze into the kid’s Derrick Favors jersey, but the round clearly was won by the young Jazz fan. The billionaire owner and Shark Tank star even took to Twitter on Monday with kind words for the kid, calling him “The best heckler I’ve ever run into at a game …”

I too have to give the kid props for having the gumption to do such a thing. Cuban deserves major kudos as well for being good-natured about it and playing along, especially as his team was locked into such an intense contest with a good team.

If we learned anything from this about the fan base of the Utah Jazz, it’s that we’re a passionate bunch.

Also — we make sure kids know what’s what at a pretty young age.
