5 players the Jaguars must move on from in 2016

The Jacksonville Jaguars enter the offseason with high expectations next season and plenty of work to do on a roster that finished 5-11 in 2015.

The Jaguars have eight selections in April's draft and currently have an estimated $76 million in cap space to spend during free agency, leaving the Jaguars with plenty of money to shop for upgrades to the team.

Still, that doesn't mean there aren't players currently on the roster who are underperforming their contracts.

Here are five players the Jaguars should more on from in 2016.

1.Toby Gerhart

Gerhart signed a three-year, $10.5 million deal as a free agent in 2014, but injuries over the last two seasons prevented him from making an impact. After a subpar first season in Jacksonville in which he was hampered by a foot injury, Gerhart played in just seven games in 2015, carrying the ball 20 times for 44 yards before going in injured reserve with a sports-hernia injury. Jacksonville drafted T.J. Yeldon in the second round last year to be the team's every-down back and the team has Jonas Gray and Denard Robinson on the roster, as well. Cutting Gerhart would save $3.5 million.

2. Chris Clemons

On a team starved for pass-rushing specialists, Clemons should be safe. But he'll be 35 and his production was way down last season, resulting in just three sacks. This after the 12-year veteran skipped the voluntary portion of the team's offseason workouts last spring and then sat out the part of training of camp, as well, for undisclosed reasons. If the Jaguars decide they've had enough, releasing Clemons would save the team $4 million.

3. Zane Beadles

Beadles has proved durable, starting all 32 games at guard since signing as a free agent from the Denver Broncos in 2014, but struggled with pass protection and running blocking in 2015. Per Pro Football Focus, Beadles allowed 41 combined quarterback sacks, hits and hurries. The Jaguars drafted A.J. Cann in the third round last year and the team believes he has promise. Brandon Linder, the team's best lineman in 2014, will return from a season-ending shoulder injury. If the Jaguars decide to start Cann over Beadles at left guard, releasing Beadles would save $5.5 million against the cap.

4. Stefen Wisniewski

Wisniewski signed a one-year contract last offseason and won the starting center job. While he started all 16 games, his performance in 2015 was uneven at times, with the five-year veteran struggling with high snaps in multiple games. This is a position the Jaguars should look to upgrade in free agency and should only consider bringing Wisniewski back as a fallback option.

5. Sergio Brown

After starting four of Jacksonville's first five games at safety, Brown played in a reserve role most of the season, recording 38 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Jacksonville has 2015 fifth-round pick James Sample on the roster at free safety and the team figures to address the position in the offseason, as well, perhaps in the first round of the draft. That puts Brown in danger of being the odd man out. Cutting him would save $2.25 million.
