Just one week after the NFL draft, yet another rookie has been lost for the 2015 season due to a torn ACL.

One day after Jacksonville Jaguars first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr. suffered a torn ACL in his first practice in the NFL, Denver Broncos tight end Jeff Heuerman suffered the same fate.

The news of Heuerman’s injury comes directly from the Broncos' official website:

"Heuerman suffered the injury during the special-teams period of practice. He was running full speed down the middle of the field when he made a cut and his knee gave way."

Denver was relying on the Ohio State product for depth as a rookie and potentially act as an occasional receiving weapon for Peyton Manning.

"I feel terrible for Jeff and this is a very unfortunate situation,” head coach Gary Kubiak said. “Jeff was going to be a big part of our team this year, and he’s still going to be a big part of our team and organization in the future."

With Heuerman out for the season, Virgil Green, Owen Daniels and James Casey will be Manning’s primary tight ends in 2015.
