Browns reportedly plan to start Robert Griffin III against Bengals on Sunday

Robert Griffin III’s tenure with the Cleveland Browns got off to a terrible start, suffering a shoulder injury in Week 1. He was subsequently placed on injured reserve, giving way to a bevy of different names at quarterback for Cleveland.

He’ll hope to put an end to the ever-spinning carousel at the position this week, though. According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, the Browns are planning to start RG3 on Sunday against the Bengals, barring an unforeseen medical setback.

As mentioned prior, Griffin has been out since Week 1 due to a shoulder injury. He returned to practice Nov. 23, thus signifying that he would indeed be back before season’s end.

In his lone start for the Browns, Griffin completed 12 of 26 passes for 190 yards and an interception. He finished the game with 37 yards rushing and a passer rating of 55 in what was an underwhelming debut for his new team.

Griffin is in the first year of a two-year deal with the Browns. With a cap hit of $9.25 next season, RG3 will have to prove he’s capable of staying healthy and playing well in the final four games.

Josh McCown has played the majority of the last two games with Cody Kessler injured. In those games, he completed 55.7 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
