Eagles could be without three defensive starters for clash versus Jets

Already reeling from an 0-2 start, the Philadelphia Eagles could be without three defensive starters for Sunday's matchup at the New York Jets.

Inside linebacker Kiko Alonso will miss the contest while the team determines the severity of the damage to his left knee, which multiple media outlets have reported is a partially torn ACL in his left knee.

"Kiko is still in the evaluation process, so we are crossing our fingers and hoping everything turns out for the best," Eagles defensive coordinator Billy Davis said before Tuesday's practice. "We are unsure about him, but for this week, I don't expect him to play."

Alonso, acquired from the Buffalo Bills in the offseason in exchange for running back LeSean McCoy, missed the entire 2014 campaign while recovering from surgery on his left ACL

Davis also said that defensive lineman Cedric Thornton is expected to be sidelined for "a week or so" after suffering a broken bone in his hand hand in Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Philadelphia is holding out hope that linebacker Mychal Kendricks, listed as day-to-day with a hamstring strain, will be able to return to the lineup. The Eagles re-signed linebacker Najee Goode, their final cut of the preseason, to provide depth at the position.
