Jaguars continue to have issues with shotgun snaps

Problems operating out of the shotgun have become a recurring issue for the Jacksonville Jaguars of late, including most recently during Sunday's 38-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

In the fourth quarter, Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles was attempting to change the protection at the line of scrimmage for a second time when center Stefen Wisniewski snapped the ball. The unsuspecting Bortles was able to recover the fumble, but it marked the third time in four games and fourth time this season Jacksonville has had issues with shotgun snaps.

Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley attributed Sunday's issue to Bortles, rather than Wisniewski.

"The whole procedure, without getting into too much details of it, the offensive line felt like, okay, we’re ready, everybody is ready and set now, the snap can come at any time," Bradley said. "Blake yelled out a check and they thought that was the snap count."

While Sunday's fumble may have been Bortles' fault, Wisniewski was responsible for the other three. Two bad snaps that resulted in defensive touchdowns in Jacksonville's Nov. 19 win against Tennessee Titans, as well as the team's Dec. 13 win against the Indianapolis Colts. Wisniewski also delivered a low snap out of the shotgun during the Jaguars' Oct. 4 overtime loss to the Colts.

The pair will try to get things corrected in Sunday's season finale against the Houston Texans.
