Report: Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill may need surgery on injured ACL
Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill could need surgery to repair his injured knee, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.
Tannehill sprained his ACL and MCL on a hit by Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell last week. Head coach Adam Gase has not ruled out the possibility of Tannehill returning this season.
Though both ligaments are only partially torn, Tannehill could still need reconstructive surgery on his ACL, Rapoport reports. Tannehill is currently wearing a full cast on his leg and using crutches.
The Dolphins are 9–5 after trouncing the Jets on Saturday night and are the thick of the AFC playoff hunt. They will turn to veteran backup Matt Moore until Tannehill is able to return to the field. Moore threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday’s win.
