Report: LB Jamie Collins unable to eat, kept away from Patriots with contagious virus

After surprisingly being added to the injury report on Saturday due to an illness, New England Patriots outside linebacker Jamie Collins was unable to play on Sunday. He's missed practice this week due to the illness and is a question mark to play this week against the New York Giants.

Collins is reportedly dealing with a contagious virus that's kept him away from his teammates and the locker room. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Collins is very weak and has been unable to eat, causing his status to be in doubt for Sunday.

The good news, as Josina Anderson of ESPN reported, is that he should be well "in a few days." Still, the team may choose to play it safe and keep him away from the team for fear that he'll give the virus to other players.

Collins has played well all season, recording a team-high 51 tackles to go along with 4.5 sacks. There's no question the Patriots defense is better with Collins on the field but they could be without him for the second consecutive game.
