Robert Griffin III struggles mightily in first start back from injury

The Browns hoped the return of Robert Griffin III could help spur them to their first victory of the season against the Bengals on Sunday, but Griffin had a dreadful first half as Cleveland fell behind 20–0.

Griffin completed just two of 10 pass attempts for 20 yards and an interception in the half. He had a quarterback rating of 0.0, though he added four carries for 21 yards.

The game was Griffin’s first since injuring his shoulder in Week 1. The Browns used four different quarterbacks in Griffin’s absence (Josh McCown, Kevin Hogan, Charlie Whitehurst and Cody Kessler), and also gave quarterback-turned-receiver Terrelle Pryor a few snaps under center.

Sunday’s home game against the Bengals (4–7–1) perhaps represents Cleveland’s best chance at a win this season. The Browns’ final three games are against the Bills, Chargers and Steelers.
