Rookie guard Spain makes first start for Titans

After appearing in just one game all season, Tennessee rookie offensive lineman Quinton Spain made his fist NFL start Sunday in the Titans' 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Spain, an undrafted free agent from West Virginia, started at left guard in place of Joe Looney. Interim head coach Mike Mularkey said last week the move to start the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Spain was made out of a desire to get more size in the lineup.

One of two rookie free agents to make Tennessee's 53-man roster at the end of training camp, Spain was called for two holding penalties in the first half.

“I was a little shaky at the beginning, but I think I caught on,” Spain said, per the Tennessean. “I was just over-thinking and stuff. I had to relax and play my game.”
