Texans' offensive line holds Jets DE Wilkerson in check

A standout effort by a pair of Texans' offensive linemen helped contain talented Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson in Sunday's 24-17 win over New York.

Houston left tackle Duane Brown and left guard Xavier Su'a-Filo worked together to limit Wilkerson to three tackles and one quarterback hit in the Texans' victory. Wilkerson entered the game with a team-leading seven sacks.

“Very tough assignment, Wilkerson came in having a really good year and he’s a tough guy to block,” Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said, per the Houston Chronicle. “I thought we did a good job against him overall. You never really contain a player like that, but I think overall those guys really stayed after him and held him in check I would say."

Su'a-Filo, Houston's second-round pick in 2014, has started the last two games for the Texans after being slowed earlier in the season by a calf injury.

“It wasn’t perfect, but he played well next to Duane, he played well next to (center) Ben (Jones) and like I said, he played a very physical game which was good for us to see as a coaching staff, O'Brien said. "Now hopefully that gives him some confidence and he can continue to play at that level and obviously get better and better.”

The Houston offensive line will look to continue their strong play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
