New Orleans Saints wide receiver Willie Snead finds a wide open Tim Hightower for a touchdown on a trick play against the Los Angeles Rams defense.

The New Orleans Saints needed a win to keep pace with the arch rival Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South standings in Week 12. They would face a fellow 4-6 NFC team in the Los Angeles Rams.

While Rams quarterback Jared Goff looked good in the first half, the Saints laid the hammer on the Rams defense in the second half. Here is an incredible trick play the Saints had up their sleeves. Quarterback Drew Brees would toss the ball to wide receiver Willie Snead, who would find a wide-open Tim Hightower for six points.

On a third and three from the Rams’ 48-yard line, Saints head coach Sean Payton would draw up the brilliant trick play. He designed the play to have everybody collapse on Snead in the flats on the initial pass.

Snead would show off both great arm strength and incredible touch on this pass to the running back Hightower. Nobody was close to Hightower in the fooled Rams secondary. Only near the goal line would Hightower have to shake a pair of Rams defenders to find pay dirt.

The Saints did their part by throttling a bewildered Rams team on Sunday. They will improve to 5-6 on the year, but will remain two games back of Atlanta in the NFC South race. New Orleans still has time to catch its arch nemesis in the NFC South standings.

Even if the Saints don’t, they have shown that this offense is here to stay. Brees may be getting up there in age, but the New Orleans aerial attack is as good as it ever was. Snead is another young star in the Saints’ high-octane offense.
