Blackhawks' Darling throws ceremonial first pitch at Cubs' game

Chicago Blackhawks backup goaltender Scott Darling is slowly becoming a fixture at Wrigley Field.

Darling joined his hockey mates in bringing the Stanley Cup to the "Friendly Confines" on June 16, one day after his team captured its third title in six seasons by besting the Tampa Bay Lightning. Nearly three months later, the native of Lemont, Ill., returned to Wrigley Field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Sunday's Chicago Cubs' game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While Darling's fastball hit the mark, Blackhawks fans would prefer to see him in the crease as opposed to on the pitcher's mound. The 26-year-old posted a 9-4-0 mark with a 1.94 goals-against average and .936 save percentage in 14 regular-season appearances last season.

Darling turned it up in the playoffs, posting a 3-1 mark in the first round against the Nashville Predators before Corey Crawford led Chicago the rest of the way.
