Blackhawks' Kane: NHL's 3-on-3 is must-watch television

Chicago Blackhawks superstar forward Patrick Kane is a fan of the NHL's 3-on-3 overtime format, both when he's on the ice as well as in front of the television.

Perhaps that should come as no surprise since Kane leads the league this season in goals (career high-tying 30), assists (43), points (73) and is the decided front-runner for the Hart Trophy. The three-time Stanley Cup winner wasn't just referring to his individual numbers skyrocketing, however, but also the excitement level of the game.

Via Sportsnet:

"It's definitely fun. I think it's one of the best things the NHL has done in a long time. It's a great aspect of the game, to the point where I watch a lot of hockey at home and if there's a game on TV, I look to see which one is in overtime and put that game on just to watch the 3-on-3. It's exciting."

Kane has also been exciting to watch this season, highlighted by his franchise-record 26-game point streak from Oct. 17-Dec. 13. The 27-year-old has dominated from the start, posting a league-best 25 power-play points while his plus-22 rating is the fourth-best in the NHL.

Kane enjoyed quick chemistry with linemates Artem Anisimov and rookie Artemi Panarin en route to being named the NHL's First Star of the Month for November and the Third Star in December.

All of that excitement makes for a good time in front of the television, right Patrick?
