Blackhawks' Rasmussen scores in NHL debut, celebrates 'biggest day of my life'

While many Chicago Blackhawks fans will remember Patrick Kane extending his career-high point streak to 23 games with an empty-net goal on Tuesday, newcomer Dennis Rasmussen has a different view.

"It's the biggest day of my life. It's easy to say that," Rasmussen told reporters. With good reason, as the 25-year-old Swede scored on his first official shot in his first NHL game in Chicago's 4-1 victory over the Central Division-rival Nashville Predators.

With his mother, father and brother flying in to attend the contest, Rasmussen deftly deflected Andrew Shaw's wrist shot from above the left circle past Pekka Rinne to open the scoring midway into the first period.

Rasmussen was recalled on Monday from Rockford of the American Hockey League, where he led the IceHogs with 14 points (seven goals, seven assists).
