Calgary Flames Now On An Eight-Game Powerplay Goal Streak

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:57 p.m. ET

The Calgary Flames beat the Arizona Coyotes on Monday evening by a score of 4-2. They are now on an eight-game power play goal streak.

The Calgary Flames beat the Arizona Coyotes on Monday evening due to the help of their special teams. They won 4-2. The Flames had three of the goals come on the powerplay. This… this is the Calgary Flames, right? The Flames have now increased their PP stat to 43.3% in December which is the best in the league. They were also facing the best penalty kill home% in the NHL.

The special teams tonight continued to be special. The Flames went 3/6 on the PP and killed off all five penalties. One of which was a 5-on-3 and therefore almost gave me a heart attack (I hate 5-on-3). In more good news, Brian Elliott has won his first game since October 28th. The two goals he let in weren’t exactly the greatest however, this win will definitely boost his confidence.

Furthermore, in more point streaks, Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau have extended theirs. Monahan is now on a ten-game point streaks and Gaudreau is now on an eight-game point streak. The Flames now have ten road wins which is tied for second highest in the NHL. They now have the best away game stats in the Western Conference.

Something that I don’t completely appreciate is the Coyotes trying to hurt our Flames (jokes), but Kris Versteeg and Johnny Gaudreau both looked hurt in some hard hits. They both thankfully returned to the bench, played, and Versteeg even got a goal after. Johnny’s hit came right as he assisted on Troy Brouwer‘s goal.

Actually, every time my dad left the room, someone got hurt. So now my dad is no longer to leave the room during a game.

Oh wait, we actually do have one more streak. The Calgary Flames are now 5-0-0 when I wear my Flames onesie. I am officially never washing this thing.

The Calgary Flames keep their playoff spot for now and let’s hope they can continue to be the road warriors they’ve been all season when they face the San Jose Sharks tomorrow evening.
