Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Derrick Pouliot was cited for public drunkenness in Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) this past weekend, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

The 21-year-old Pouliot, who has been playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, was found intoxicated by police early Sunday morning following a dispute over a fare with a taxi driver, according to the police report.

"I hope it’s a one-time mistake," Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "To my knowledge, he hasn’t had issues prior to this. We’ll certainly be watching here in the future as to what’s going on."

The eighth overall pick of the 2012 draft, Pouliot has collected one goal and five assists with Wilkes-Barre Scranton this season. The defenseman scored twice and set up five tallies in 34 games with Pittsburgh in 2014-15.
