Seguin brings one fan in Boston to tears -- but in a good way

Maybe Tyler Seguin made most Bruins fans sad by recording a hat trick in Boston during the Dallas Stars' 5-3 victory on Tuesday, but one fan that he brought to tears was actually crying out of happiness.

During warm-ups, a girl had pressed a sign against the glass that read, "My only wish for my Sweet 16 is to see Tyler Seguin." The forward not only skated over, but he also tossed a birthday puck to the girl -- which brought on the tears.

It got even better for her after the game, when she met Seguin -- which meant more happy tears.

Seguin, a first-round draft pick of the Bruins in 2010, played his first three NHL seasons with Boston before being traded to Dallas before the 2013-14 season. Unlike the girl, the Boston fans weren't too thrilled with Seguin's performance -- they booed after he scored his first two goals. The hat trick was the seventh of Seguin's career, all but one with Dallas.

"I find sometimes when you're getting booed it makes you play better," said Seguin, who won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011. "I get booed in Winnipeg, where I have no idea why, but it gives you a little more jump in your step. ...

"It felt like it's been a long enough time. It's still special playing here, but it hasn't felt like it has before. Maybe that's just time going by and maturing, whatever you want to call it."

Jyrki Jokipakka scored his first NHL goal and Alex Goligoski scored his first of the season for the Stars, who ended Boston's four-game winning streak despite being outshot 39-19.

Jason Spezza and John Klingberg had two assists each for the Stars and Kari Lehtonen finished with 36 saves.

Boston, unbeaten on the road, has yet to win consecutive games at home this season.

Loui Eriksson scored twice for Boston, cutting Dallas' lead to 5-3 with 2:15 left to play.

Boston's Colin Miller scored his first career goal and Torey Krug had two assists.

Tuukka Rask had an ugly night in the net, allowing five goals on just 19 shots and was mocked by Boston fans when he made an easy stop late in the game.

Boston lost center Chris Kelly 1:40 into the game with a broken leg.

Seguin, who put Dallas up 1-0 5:46 into the game, tied it at 2-all with a power-play goal 4:37 into the second on a slap shot from the left circle. Seguin added his third on a one-timer 1:18 into the third period that put the Stars up 4-2.
