Sami Vatanen perhaps Vegas decides to gamble on, after a down year, the 26-year-old puck moving defensemen provides a lot of upside for Vegas, he'll give them an #1, #2 option on the power play, he has room to grow and has shown he can compete at a high level. Now at $4.8 million per year for another three years until he's free of his contract, is Vegas willing to spend $10.3 million on two players for one year, possibly, and it's an option.

Perhaps Mat Dumba will be sporting Vegas Golden Knight thread next season? Dumba, who played top 3 defensemen minutes in Minnesota this year, who we saw have a bounce back year but fall short in the playoffs. Dumba played alongside Ryan Suter much of the 2016-2017 season and has slowly proven his worth in the NHL despite playing under the limelight of a lot of good Minnesota defensemen. This is definitely an option for Vegas being that he is 22-years-old, has increasingly had better years since he came into the league in 2013, and his contract is a no brainer, $2.2 million for one year until he becomes an RFA(restricted free agent), only problem Vegas will have is working around the RFA.
