Blues goaltender Jake Allen signs two-year contract

St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong announced Friday the club has signed goaltender Jake Allen to a two-year contract.

Allen, 24, led all rookie goaltenders with 22 wins (22-7-4) this past season, while recording a 2.28 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. For his efforts, he was named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team for the second time in his career. In addition, he tied a Blues rookie record with four shutouts, while becoming just the second rookie goaltender in club history to post consecutive shutouts. Allen also logged 184:38 consecutive shutout minutes from Oct. 23 (3rd period vs. Vancouver) to Nov. 6 (3rd period vs. New Jersey), etching a new Blues rookie record.

During the 2015 regular season calendar year, the 6-foot-3, 204-pound goaltender tallied the NHL's second-best record (11-2-2, .800), while sharing the league lead in goals-against average (1.78). To finish the regular season slate, Allen allowed two or fewer goals in eight consecutive games, including conceding only one in each of his final four starts.

Originally drafted by the Blues in the second round (34th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, the Fredericton, New Brunswick, native has accumulated a 31-11-4 record to go along with a 2.33 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and five shutouts in 52 career regular season appearances.
