Blues send D Chris Butler back to Wolves

ST. LOUIS -- With Jay Bouwmeester back and Andre Benoit staying for at least a little while, the St. Louis Blues sent defenseman Chris Butler back to the AHL Chicago Wolves.

Butler was recalled from Chicago after Bouwmeester was injured against Anaheim on Jan. 8. He played in three games while Bouwmeester, who returned Monday, healed from a lower-body injury.

Defenseman Robert Bortuzzo also has been hurt, sitting out Monday's win over Pittsburgh. Butler's demotion could be a sign that Bortuzzo won't be out long.

Butler, 29, has dressed in 27 games with the Wolves this season, logging 10 points (two goals, eight assists) and 18 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman has also made five appearances with the Blues this season, serving four penalty minutes.
