Brotherly love: David Carr believes younger brother is better QB

Derek Carr wasn't a No. 1 overall NFL draft pick like his older brother, but he's the better quarterback of the two, according to David Carr himself.

David was the Texans' first draft pickin franchise history in 2002. But after five disappointing seasons in Houston, he spent the remainder of his career serving as a backup for the Panthers, Giants and 49ers.

The Raiders are hoping for better luck from Derek after drafting the younger Carr in the second round of the 2014 draft.

David believes his brother is the answer Oakland fans have been waiting for under center.

"He understands the game more than I did, so his confidence level is just off the charts," David said on KGMZ-FM 95.7 The Game. "[His] leadership ability is kind of where I was never at early on in my career. He's able to go out and get guys that are seven, eight years older than him to actually buy in to what he's doing, and believe that he can play, and believe that he can go out and lead the team."

Derek was the starter from Week 1 last season as a rookie and passed for 3,270 yards and 21 touchdowns in all 16 regular season games.
