Ducks acquire former LA Kings goalie Jonathan Bernier from Toronto

The Ducks and Maple Leafs are playing goalie musical chairs again.

On Friday, the Ducks announced they had acquired Toronto goalie Jonathan Bernier in exchange for a conditional draft choice. It's a trade that comes less than a month after the Ducks sent goalie Frederik Andersen the other direction for a first-round draft pick.

SoCal hockey fans should be familiar with Bernier, having been drafted in the first round by the LA Kings in 2006. Bernier made his NHL debut for the Kings in London, England in a 4-1 over the Ducks in 2007. He was just 19 at the time.

Following the trade of Andersen, acquiring an NHL-level goalie to back up starter John Gibson became a priority for Anaheim during the offseason. Bernier excelled behind Jonathan Quick while with the Kings posting a 9-3-1 record with a 1.88 GAA in 2012-2013 before being sent to Toronto. His numbers with the Leafs suffered as a result of being with one of the league's worst teams.

Bernier has one year left on his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season.
