Ducks, Kings have six players each named to World Cup of Hockey 2016 rosters

No, we won't be seeing any Anaheim Ducks or LA Kings in this year's Stanley Cup Final -- I know, it still hurts me, too. But today, we did learn there will be six players from each team taking part in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey held in Canada this September.

As expected, Team Canada had the most selections from both teams with the Ducks' Ryan Getzlaf joing Kings Jake Muzzin, Jeff Carter and Drew Doughty. One notable abscene from Canada's team though is Ducks forward Corey Perry. Perry recently joined the exclusive 'Triple Gold Club' following his IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship win with Team Canada just last week. After not being named to the preliminary roster, Perry is again deemed surplus to requirements for Team Canada.

Ducks center Ryan Kesler joins Kings goalie Jonathan Quick on the Team USA squad, while Ducks goalie John Gibson got the nod from Team North America.

Rounding out the rest of the World Cup selections, Kings Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik will team up with Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen on Team Europe, with Ducks Jakob Silfverberg and Sami Vatanen joining Team Sweden and Team Finland, respectively.

The 2016 World Cup of Hockey will be played from Sept. 17 - Oct. 1 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
