Healing on the blue line, Blues send Benoit back to Chicago

Published Jan. 22, 2016 5:50 p.m. ET

The return of several ailing Blues defensemen allowed the club to send Andre Benoit, who had played the last two games with St. Louis, back to its AHL affiliate in Chicago on Friday.

The Blues expect to see Carl Gunnarsson (upper-body injury), Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) and Colton Parayko (flu) back tonight against the Avalanche in Denver. Coach Ken Hitchcock announced after practice that all three were healthy and good to go, although defenseman Joel Edmundson took a puck in the mouth during practice. His availability for the Denver game was not known.

Benoit, 32, posted a +1 rating over two games during his stint with the Blues. In 37 games with the Wolves this season, he ranks second on the club with 25 points, including a team-leading 21 assists.
