San Diego Padres rookie outfielder Hunter Renfroe has been named the National League Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season. The announcement was made by Major League Baseball on Monday.

Renfroe, who made his debut on Sept. 21, hit .409 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in six games last week. Perhaps the most memorable moment of his outstanding week was on Wednesday when he hit a home run that landed on top of the roof of the Western Metal Supply building down the left field line of Petco Park. This was the first time a home run landed that high up on the brick building in a game.

Renfroe has provided a spark of enthusiasm amongst Padres fans for the future, whose call-up came after a great season for Triple-A El Paso where he hit .306 with 30 home runs and 105 RBIs.
