Meet the Packers 2016: Interesting facts about your favorite players

Training camp is underway and soon the football games will begin. With that will come the inundation of statistics -- who ran for how many yards, in what round was player drafted, what were a player's stats in college and so on.

Since you'll be getting enough football stats about the Green Bay Packers to fill any void you might have, we thought we'd take a look at the lighter side of things.

We scoured through the Packers media guide and came up with some different and interesting facts about a number of players. While your friends are dishing out the number of Aaron Rodgers 300-yard games, you can enlighten them on which player is named after an NBA Hall of Famer, who doesn't eat sweets, which player made the varsity baseball team in seventh grade, whose dad won a semi-pro football national championship and much more.

Davante Adams: Attended the same high school as Jeremy Lin and Jim Harbaugh.

Kennard Backman: Serves as a barber for friends and family.

Green Bay Packers tight end Kennard Backman is a pretty accomplished barber, and cuts the hair of friends and teammates.

Chris Banjo: His best friend is his former high school teammate, George Iloka, who is a safety with the Bengals.

Sam Barrington: Middle name is Kofi, which means "Friday born."

Beniquez Brown: Played varsity baseball as a seventh grader.

Morgan Burnett: Nickname is "Uno."

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix: Given name is Ha'Sean (prounced ha-SEEN). Nicknamed "Ha Ha" by his grandmother when he was 3 or 4 years old.

Mason Crosby: Is in Colorado's Folsom Field's Ring of Fame.

Mike Daniels: Participated in the NFL Finance Camp this past offseason.

Trevor Davis: His second cousin is former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Kyler Fackrell: Painted houses in the year between graduating high school and enrolling at Utah State in 2011. Worked as an umpire for Little League baseball games during a summer in college.

Letroy Guion: Is a cousin of linebacker Sam Barrington.

Jeff Janis: Worked at his uncle's auto shop in Tawas City, Mich., every summer, changing tires and oil, starting when he was 15 years old.

Eddie Lacy: Family home in Gretna, La., was destroyed by the effects of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His family was displaced, moving between Texas and Louisiana before finally settling in Geismar, La.

Blake Martinez: Doesn't eat sweets.

Tim Masthay: Currently working toward a master's degree in sports administration through the correspondence program offered by the Center for Sports Administration at Ohio University and a master's in educational psychology from the University of Missouri.

Peter Mortell: His grandfather operated the game clock at Lambeau Field for more than 30 years and his father currently serves as the clock operator. Worked in the press box at Lambeau during his four years in high school.

Jordy Nelson: Won a national AAU championship in the 400 meters as a 10-year old.

Lucas Patrick: Can successfully drop-kick a field goal from the 15-yard line (25-yard FG).

Mike Pennell: Survived a bout with childhood cancer when he was 3 years old.

Julius Peppers: Is named after NBA Hall of Famer Julius Erving.

Julius Peppers' namesake: NBA Hall of Famer Julius "Dr. J" Erving.

Nick Perry: Worked at the USC administration office the summer before his junior year, doing programming and data entry.

Damarious Randall: Was a teammate of Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell on a travel baseball team in Florida.

Aaron Ripkowski: Traveled to Ireland in May 2014 as part of Oklahoma's study-abroad program.

Aaron Rodgers: Father, Ed, won the semi-pro national championship in 1980 with the Twin City (Marysville, Calif.) Cougars.

Matt Rotheram: Knows sign language.

Joe Thomas: Cousin is former wide receiver Troy Brown, who won three Supers Bowls.
