Packers reduce roster to 75

The Green Bay Packers on Tuesday reduced their roster to 75 by placing five players on injured reserve, releasing another and trading linebacker Lerentee McCray to Buffalo.

The players who are put on season-ending IR were tight ends Kennard Backman and Mitchell Henry, running back John Crockett and offensive linemen Jacob Flores and Josh Walker.

Wide receiver Harvey Binford, who had no catches in the preseason, was released.

Backman was the only draft pick of the group, selected in the sixth round in 2015. He played in seven games last season without recording a catch. Backman had five receptions for 39 yards this preseason.

Crockett spent time as Green Bay's third running back last year and had 10 rushes for 48 yards with a touchdown in the preseason, but injured his shoulder in the third quarter at San Francisco.

Henry and Walker also both played for the Packers last season.

McCray played the last two seasons with Denver, mainly on special teams, before signing with Green Bay this past offseason. The Packers dealt him to the Bills for an undisclosed 2018 draft pick.

The Packers play their final preseason game Thursday at Kansas City. Teams have to reduce their roster to 53 players on Saturday. Green Bay opens the regular season Sept. 11 at Jacksonville.
