Panthers acquire forward Michael Sgarbossa in trade with Ducks

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations Dale Tallon announced Wednesday that the Panthers have acquired forward Michael Sgarbossa from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Logan Shaw. Sgarbossa will be assigned to the Panthers American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.

The 24-year old Sgarbossa recorded two assists in nine games with Anaheim this season and one goal in two games with the San Diego Gulls (AHL). In the 2015-16 season, Sgarbossa recorded 44 points (17-27-44) in 62 games with San Diego and recorded five points (1-4-5) in five Calder Cup Playoff games.

The 6-foot, 176-pound native of Campbellville, Ontario has played in 19 NHL games for Anaheim (2015-16) and Colorado (2012-15), recording three points (0-3-3).

Sgarbossa was awarded the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the Ontario Hockey League's top scorer in 2011-12, recording 102 points (47-55-102) in 66 games with the Sudbury Wolves.
