Sherels named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Vikings special teams staple Marcus Sherels is finally earning some league-wide recognition.

Sherels torched the Bears special teams unit on a 65-yard return in the first quarter to help the Vikings edge past Chicago, 23-20.

The run pushed Sherels career return average to 10.6 yards, while the Rochester native's three career punt return touchdowns are the the most in franchise history.

The score moves Sherels into elite special teams company, as only Darren Sproles, Tavon Austin, Micah Hyde and Darius Reynaud have scored three punt return touchdowns since the beginning of the 2012 season, Sherels' second year on return duty.
