Strome, Domi, Perlini among Coyotes prospect camp attendees

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- When Coyotes general manager Don Maloney stepped to the podium for a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, his work-weary face told the story of the past two weeks.

The NHL's illogical insistence on holding its draft and free agency period in rapid succession has taken its toll on the Coyotes and other teams' management staffs, but at least Arizona's will get an immediate chance to view the fruits of its labors.

The Coyotes will hold their prospect development camp Monday through Friday with on-ice sessions running Tuesday through Thursday at the Ice Den in Scottsdale. On-ice sessions run from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and from 1:50 to 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday. The practices are free and open to the public.

The entire 2015 draft class will attend the camp, including first-round draft choices Dylan Strome and Nick Merkley and second-round pick Christian Fischer.

Former first-round draft choices Max Domi (2013) and Brendan Perlini (2014) will participate, as will forward prospects Laurent Dauphin, Anthony Duclair, Christian Dvorak, Ryan MacInnis and Max Letunov and defensive prospects Dysin Mayo and David Westlund.

"I can't wait," Maloney said. "That's going to be maybe the highlight of the summer for me because we do have so many interesting players. It's not only just Strome and Fischer and all the guys we just drafted. It's Max Letunov. We get a chance to see him for the first time and MacInnis. He's had two months of some strength development. And (Matthias) Plachta, the big German winger we signed.

"Everybody that we drafted is coming in. We have a Swedish goalie (Erik Kallgren) that we drafted in the seventh round and I've never seen him, so I'm looking forward to that. It's going to be fun to sort of take a look at all these guys and Nicholas Merkley and these really good young players with Max Domi and Dvorak. It will be a really interesting couple days to have them all here and get them together and give them a little taste of the desert."

The camp afford players instruction in both on- and off-ice workout sessions while giving all of the players a chance to meet one another, bond and get a feel for NHL coaching and training methods.

Players will be available to the media following their on-ice training sessions.

An autograph session also is planned after Wednesday's skate.
