Werewolf in Minnesota? Darcy Kuemper's goalie mask unveiled

Darcy Kuemper might not be the Minnesota Wild's starting goaltender when the season rolls around shortly, but in a battle of helmet masks, we'll take his.

Devan Dubnyk, who started nearly every game for the Wild last season after being acquired in a trade, is expected to be the No. 1 goalie for Minnesota. Known as "The Giraffe," Dubnyk's had his mask adorned with that animal.

Kuemper, on the other hand, is once again going with a werewolf design. His helmet mask for 2015-16 was unveiled by designer David Gunnarsson, whose artistic hand is seen in a number of NHL goalie masks.

Describing his creation, Gunnarsson wrote on Instagram:

"Watch out folks . . . it is a werewolf on the loose in the Minnesota forests . . . Stay indoor and lock the doors . . . you can be ripped by the razor sharp claws of the werewolf, just like this mask . . . And when you look really close . . . you will see the werewolf . . . I love the challenge of telling a story on a mask, a story in 360 degrees . . . Just as a book the mask is transformed into a saga, and the closer you come the more chapters you will discover, and the mask transforms in front of your eyes . . ."

One thing is for sure, in a fight we'd take a werewolf over a giraffe any day. Especially when there's a full moon.
