Wild assign Eriksson Ek to AHL, place Bartley on IR

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek will start the season with the AHL's Iowa Wild.

Eriksson Ek appeared to be on the cusp of making the Wild's NHL roster out of training camp following a strong preseason performance.

The 19-year-old was expected to return to Sweden rather than play in AHL, suggesting that his NHL debut could be on the horizon.

The Wild also placed defenseman Victor Bartley on injured reserve after the veteran suffered a torn triceps in a preseason game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
