Wild raise money for Fort McMurray wildfire relief

The Minnesota Wild are lending an assist to the region of Fort McMurray to help combat the wildfires currently raging through northeast Alberta, Canada.

Zach Parise, Jason Pominville, Nate Prosser, Jared Spurgeon, Erik Haula and Jason Zucker were on hand last week for an autograph signing that the team says raised more than $15,000 to help support people affected by the disaster.

The Minnesota Wild Foundation -- the team's charity arm -- donated an additional $5,000 to the Red Cross, while BMO Harris Bank donated a whopping $2 million to the relief organization.

The event is especially personal for defenseman Jared Spurgeon, whose wife Danielle's parents saw their home destroyed by a fire last month.
