With two-thirds of the roster born after 1990, the Milwaukee Bucks are a young, growing team. Every Thursday for the rest of the season, FOX Sports Wisconsin will take a closer look at the players that are 25 years old and younger (for the most part, those still in their first four NBA seasons), measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.
After a brief hiatus due to the All-Star break, we're back with the 14th edition of the 2015-16 Young Bucks Tracker.
A glossary of the advanced statistics used for season totals:
PER -- Player Efficiency Rating: A measure of per-minute production standardized such that the league average is 15.
TS% -- True Shooting Percentage: A measure of shooting efficiency that takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws.
USG% -- Usage Percentage: An estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor.
ORtg -- Offensive Rating: An estimate of points produced per 100 possessions.
DRtg -- Defensive Rating: An estimate of points allowed per 100 possessions.
VORP -- Value over Replacement Player: A box score estimate of the points per 100 TEAM possessions that a player contributed above a replacement-level (-2.0) player, translated to an average team and prorated to an 82-game season.
GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (Age 21, third season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 16.2 points (21.3), 7.4 rebounds (12.0), 2.9 assists (5.7), 1.1 steals (1.3), 1.2 blocks (2.3), 34.9 minutes (39.3), 50.7 FG% (52.9), 22.9 3PT% (0.0).
Advanced stats, season: 16.9 PER, 56.7 percent TS%, 21.5 percent USG%, 107 ORtg, 107 DRtg, 1.3 VORP.
Notable: What more do you want out of Antetokounmpo last week? He has had a double-double in four straight games, including Milwaukee's first triple-double in nearly four years in Monday's win over the Lakers. OK, he didn't hit a 3 and did foul out in the double-OT victory in Atlanta. But let's not be nitpicky; we'd take this kind of week all the time. In addition, head coach Jason Kidd is having The Greek Freak handle the ball upcourt more (which led to several spectacular passes vs. Los Angeles). Could be an interesting final couple of months.
MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS (Age 24, third season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 11.6 points (13.7), 5.2 rebounds (6.7), 5.3 assists (2.3), 1.5 steals (1.3), 0.7 blocks (2.0), 30.6 minutes (34.0), 45.5 FG% (48.5), 28.8 3PT% (28.6).
Advanced stats, season: 14.6 PER, 50.2 percent TS%, 21.0 percent USG%, 98 ORtg, 106 DRtg, 0.8 VORP.
Notable: Carter-Williams survived the trade deadline and then posted three straight games in double-figure points. He's still coming off the bench and his assist numbers are down (perhaps due to Antetokounmpo handling the ball more) but he can do so much more (see his rebounds, steals and blocks) that he presents value no matter his role.
TYLER ENNIS (Age 21, second season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 2.5 points (n/a), 1.0 rebounds (n/a), 1.0 assists (n/a), 0.3 steals (n/a), 0.0 blocks (n/a), 8.7 minutes (n/a), 40.0 FG% (n/a), 28.6 3PT% (n/a).
Advanced stats, season: 7.6 PER, 46.7 percent TS%, 17.1 percent USG%, 91 ORtg, 111 DRtg, -0.2 VORP.
Notable: Perhaps the move of Carter-Williams to the bench has impacted Ennis' playing time. He hasn't seen the court since Feb. 5; five straight DNP-CDs. Making matters worse, Jerryd Bayless also didn't play in the last three games. Keep saying it, but a D League stint could do Ennis some good.
JOHN HENSON (Age 25, fourth season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 6.8 points (n/a), 3.9 rebounds (n/a), 1.0 assists (n/a), 0.3 steals (n/a), 2.0 blocks (n/a), 16.7 minutes (n/a), 59.1 FG% (n/a), n/a 3PT% (n/a).
Advanced stats, season: 18.8 PER, 59.4 percent TS%, 18.5 percent USG%, 109 ORtg, 105 DRtg, 0.7 VORP.
Notable: Henson hasn't played since Jan. 26 due to a back injury. His absence has been Miles Plumlee's gain. Plumlee is averaging 17.3 minutes, 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks during Henson's 10-game absence.
DAMIEN INGLIS (Age 20, first season)
Notable: The Westchester Knicks played three games since we last met. Inglis was coming off a DNP-CD, however he then played over 20 minutes in Westchester's first two games, scoring 10 points in each game (he had three rebounds and four assists in one and seven rebounds in the other). However, in the third game last Sunday, he played just seven minutes and had two points.
KHRIS MIDDLETON (Age 24, fourth season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 17.8 points (16.7), 3.8 rebounds (3.3), 4.1 assists (5.7), 1.4 steals (2.7), 0.2 blocks (1.0), 36.4 minutes (40.7), 42.3 FG% (31.3), 40.1 3PT% (33.3).
Advanced stats, season: 15.7 PER, 54.5 percent TS%, 22.8 percent USG%, 108 ORtg, 110 DRtg, 1.0 VORP.
Notable: We said this last time and will say it again: Middleton continues to struggle with his shot. While he did make 9 of 17 shots in the last game before the break, he's made just 15 of 48 shots since. However, he's still scoring and doing other things -- note his 17 assists and eight steals in three games last week.
JOHNNY O'BRYANT (Age 22, second season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 3.2 points (0.0), 2.9 rebounds (0.0), 0.6 assists (0.0), 0.3 steals (0.0), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 14.0 minutes (1.0), 41.0 FG% (n/a), 1.000 3PT% (n/a).
Advanced stats, season: 7.4 PER, 44.2 percent TS%, 13.6 percent USG%, 95 ORtg, 110 DRtg, -0.6 VORP.
Notable: O'Bryant had four DNP-CDs before seeing all of 1:24 of court time against the Lakers. With Jason Kidd shuffling the lineup and bringing Greg Monroe off the bench, O'Bryant's playing time has been seemingly impacted.
JABARI PARKER (Age 20, second season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 11.9 points (22.0), 5.1 rebounds (11.0), 1.5 assists (2.7), 0.8 steals (0.7), 0.4 blocks (0.3), 29.7 minutes (43.0), 49.0 FG% (50.9), 0.0 3PT% (0.0).
Advanced stats, season: 14.1 PER, 52.7 percent TS%, 19.0 percent USG%, 106 ORtg, 110 DRtg, -0.2 VORP.
Notable: Here's what we wrote in the last Young Bucks Tracker about Parker: "He's someone who could perhaps use the All-Star break the most." Yeah, that break thing worked out pretty well. Parker tied a career high with 23 points against Charlotte then broke that mark with 28 points -- while playing over 51 minutes -- against Atlanta. The future might be now with Parker, indeed.
RASHAD VAUGHN (Age 19, first season)
Statistical season averages (last week): 2.6 points (2.0), 1.1 rebounds (0.3), 0.5 assists (2.3), 0.3 steals (0.0), 0.2 blocks (0.3), 12.1 minutes (16.7), 30.7 FG% (18.8), 31.3 3PT% (0.0).
Advanced stats, season: 4.1 PER, 41.5 percent TS%, 13.6 percent USG%, 84 ORtg, 112 DRtg, -0.7 VORP.
Notable: Coming off a good week before the break, Vaughn really struggled with his shot and was a minus-7 overall in the three games. However, he's minutes are on the uptick, so it seems as though the Bucks want to give him a chance to shoot his way out of slumps.
