Young Bucks Tracker: March 10 edition

Published Mar. 10, 2016 4:30 p.m. ET

With two-thirds of the roster born after 1990, the Milwaukee Bucks are a young, growing team. Every Thursday for the rest of the season, FOX Sports Wisconsin will take a closer look at the players that are 25 years old and younger (for the most part, those still in their first four NBA seasons), measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.

This is the 16th edition of the 2015-16 Young Bucks Tracker.

A glossary of the advanced statistics used for season totals:

PER -- Player Efficiency Rating: A measure of per-minute production standardized such that the league average is 15.

TS% -- True Shooting Percentage: A measure of shooting efficiency that takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws.

USG% -- Usage Percentage: An estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor.

ORtg -- Offensive Rating: An estimate of points produced per 100 possessions.

DRtg -- Defensive Rating: An estimate of points allowed per 100 possessions.

VORP -- Value over Replacement Player: A box score estimate of the points per 100 TEAM possessions that a player contributed above a replacement-level (-2.0) player, translated to an average team and prorated to an 82-game season.

GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (Age 21, third season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 16.5 points (22.3), 7.6 rebounds (8.3), 3.6 assists (9.5), 1.2 steals (2.8), 1.3 blocks (1.8), 35.3 minutes (38.0), 50.0 FG% (47.7), 21.6 3PT% (0.0).

Advanced stats, season: 17.7 PER, 56.1 percent TS%, 21.9 percent USG%, 107 ORtg, 106 DRtg, 2.0 VORP.

Notable: Not saying Antetokounpo has taken well to this move of controlling the ball, but last week he had three 10+ assist games and recorded third triple-double in two weeks. OK, we are saying just that: Antetokounmpo has taken well to this move of controlling the ball for the Bucks. The next piece to Giannis' game will be to work on his outside shot (and get defenders to respect it), but that'll be for the offseason. Until then, we'll just keep sitting back and enjoying the show.

TYLER ENNIS (Age 21, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 2.7 points (3.7), 0.9 rebounds (0.3), 1.1 assists (2.7), 0.3 steals (0.7), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 8.8 minutes (13.3), 39.5 FG% (30.8), 35.3 3PT% (50.0).

Advanced stats, season: 8.3 PER, 46.4 percent TS%, 17.3 percent USG%, 93 ORtg, 111 DRtg, -0.3 VORP.

Notable: With Michael Carter-Williams, O.J. Mayo and Greivis Vasquez all out vs. Miami and Antetokounmpo saddled with foul trouble, Ennis finally got a chance to play Wednesday. He was on the court for 25:56 -- the third-highest total of his career and the most he's had this season -- and did a decent job: 8 points, 5 assists, 1 turnover and a +/- of +4. We'll see if this was just a blip on the radar or the start of a trend.

JOHN HENSON (Age 25, fourth season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 6.8 points (n/a), 3.9 rebounds (n/a), 1.0 assists (n/a), 0.3 steals (n/a), 2.0 blocks (n/a), 16.7 minutes (n/a), 59.1 FG% (n/a), n/a 3PT% (n/a).

Advanced stats, season: 18.8 PER, 59.4 percent TS%, 18.5 percent USG%, 109 ORtg, 105 DRtg, 0.7 VORP.

Notable: Henson is still out with a back injury and hasn't played since Jan. 26. Someone needs to come up with a gallery of Henson's suit game during his time out. Just saying.

Advanced stats, season: 2.7 PER, 41.0 percent TS%, 14.7 percent USG%, 70 ORtg, 106 DRtg, -0.1 VORP.

Notable: The lack of healthy bodies on the Bucks roster (add Steve Novak to MCW, Henson, Vaszquez and sometimes Mayo and/or Bayless) isn't helping Inglis, who hasn't gotten off the bench since being recalled from the NBDL.

KHRIS MIDDLETON (Age 24, fourth season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 18.5 points (22.5), 3.9 rebounds (4.8), 4.1 assists (4.0), 1.5 steals (2.5), 0.2 blocks (0.0), 36.8 minutes (39.0), 43.1 FG% (45.1), 41.0 3PT% (52.2).

Advanced stats, season: 16.5 PER, 55.5 percent TS%, 23.0 percent USG%, 109 ORtg, 110 DRtg, 1.4 VORP.

Notable: Middleton twice shot over 50 percent from the field last week -- and the Bucks won both of those games (including his 32-point effort against Minnesota when he made 8 of 9 3-pointers). He also shot under 50 percent twice -- and Milwaukee lost both those games. A very small sample size, but it sure helps when Middleton finds his stroke.

JOHNNY O'BRYANT (Age 22, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 3.0 points (1.5), 2.7 rebounds (1.5), 0.6 assists (0.0), 0.3 steals (0.0), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 13.2 minutes (7.5), 40.4 FG% (50.0), 1.000 3PT% (n/a).

Advanced stats, season: 7.1 PER, 43.6 percent TS%, 13.4 percent USG%, 95 ORtg, 111 DRtg, -0.6 VORP.

Notable: O'Bryant played nearly eight minutes Wednesday against Miami -- which was his most playing time since Dec. 5. He faces an uphill climb to get back in the regular rotation.

JABARI PARKER (Age 20, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 13.2 points (20.8), 5.1 rebounds (6.3), 1.6 assists (2.37), 0.9 steals (1.8), 0.4 blocks (0.8), 30.7 minutes (37.8), 49.5 FG% (46.5), 20.0 3PT% (40.0).

Advanced stats, season: 14.7 PER, 53.4 percent TS%, 20.1 percent USG%, 106 ORtg, 110 DRtg, -0.1 VORP.

Notable: The ascension of Parker continues. Since Feb. 11, Parker has played at least 34 minutes in every game and is averaging 21.3 points and 7.2 rebounds over that span. This is what the Bucks and fans have been waiting for since he was selected No. 2 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft.

RASHAD VAUGHN (Age 19, first season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 2.5 points (0.8), 1.1 rebounds (0.5), 0.5 assists (0.3), 0.3 steals (0.5), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 11.9 minutes (9.3), 30.4 FG% (10.0), 30.9 3PT% (14.3).

Advanced stats, season: 4.0 PER, 43.6 percent TS%, 13.0 percent USG%, 84 ORtg, 112 DRtg, -0.8 VORP.

Notable: Vaughn had a tough week -- he made only one shot -- and played only 3:32 against Miami. But he played 10+ minutes the previous three games and 16 of the last 17.

Out for the season
