Laurie from New York, N.Y.: How many races do you plan to run next season in the truck series?

Darrell Waltrip: I know I'm going to run the Martinsville spring race. That's a make-up race. Qualifying got rained out in October, and I didn't get to race at Martinsville. I've got an awesome truck. It's brand new. The Toyota Racing Development crew took it home, covered it up and will bring it back out in April. We'll race that bad boy, and more than likely, it will be my last race.

It's just so difficult to run two or three races a year, and it's a distraction to some degree to the guys that have to help me because we don't have a full-time team. Todd Holbert and the guys over at TRD have basically volunteered their time and effort to get my truck ready to go, and they've done a great job for me. But they have so much on the table. That's the team that keeps all of the Toyota's running.

When a truck gets wrecked, it goes back to TRD in High Point, N.C., and the truck itself is repaired or rebuilt there by Todd Holbert and his crowd. If you've kept count, a lot of Toyotas were torn up this year which keeps those guys over there burning the midnight oil.

If I want to race every now and then, it takes an extra special effort on their part which I am very grateful for.

I'll probably run that Martinsville spring race and unless I happen to win that race — you know how drivers are — that would probably be my last one. That's the way things are shaking out right now. At least, that's how I feel right now.
