Linda from Manassas, Va.: I just read where NASCAR, after reviewing the situation, has given Bobby Allison a win he had in a Mustang. Wonder if NASCAR will ever "review the situation" and give you the win at North Wilkesboro that they gave to Brett Bodine?!

  • Darrell Waltrip: I heard through the grapevine — through Jayski actually — that NASCAR had revised the results after 30 years and given Bobby Allison credit for some race that he won in a Mustang.

No one has called me and told me anything about it, not that they necessarily would. A Mustang has never been a Cup car so I don't know if that change is official or not. If it is, it would be one of those things that make you go "Hmmm."

Dan from White Haven, Pa.: I just received a signed Tide car from your store. I am pleased with the detail and the paint scheme. It brings back a lot of good memories. Is the diecast business a "big money" item to drivers both past and present?

Darrell Waltrip: As far as diecasts go, it's big money if you sell a lot of diecasts. Most retired drivers have been involved in what they call the "Legends Series". Obviously we don't sell as much stuff as the current drivers do, but it's fun to see all of your old cars.

People bring my old cars to autograph sessions whether it's the Mountain Dew car, the Gatorade car, the Tide car, the Western Auto car, the Pennzoil car or whatever it might be. It's fun for them to bring them up, and it's fun for me to see them again.

After being retired for five years, I'm always flattered to think that people still want to buy memorabilia from my career at DWStore.com so I'm sure the other drivers feel pretty much the same way.
